Salvation in Mark

It is interesting that the terms σωτρ and σωτηρíα (except in Mark 16:21) are not used in Mark. Although the terms "salvation" and "saviour" are absent from Mark, the role of "saviour" is not. The verb σζω occurs in 3:4; 5:23,28,34; 6:56; 8:35; 10:26,52; 13:13,20; 15:30-31 (and 16:16). It is also generally accepted that the passion of Jesus plays a very important role in this Gospel, and Kähler (1969, 60) even referred to the Gospels as "Passionsgeschichten mit ausführlichen Einleitung". It is often said that Mark 10:45 and 14:24 are the only references to the salvific meaning of the death of Jesus in Mark, and that these references were influenced by the early Christian tradition (Barth 1992, 13). Does this mean that salvation is not that prominent in the Gospel of Mark?
